What to Expect From Your First Chiropractic Appointment

Home / Alternative Healthcare Professionals in Kitchener Waterloo / What to Expect From Your First Chiropractic Appointment

When you come to Dr. Lee’s Health and Wellness Centre in Waterloo as a new patient, it can be a little different—even for people who have been to other chiropractors. We know that our approach is different from how most chiropractors in the Kitchener-Waterloo area function. That’s why we wanted to write this blog post and share what you can expect from you first chiropractic visit at Dr. Lee’s!

Initial Assessment

As with any appointment with a new health practitioner, there will be patient forms you have to fill out. We like to get our patients to complete a health history questionnaire, to help us figure out how we can best serve them. You are the priority.

Once you complete these forms, there will be a 1 hour session with Dr. Lee or one of his associates to determine your health condition and to report on findings in the first day.

This is an inclusive session. We encourage you to share any personal health goals you may have or bring up medical issues that you would like us to focus on fixing. We are here to have a conversation with you about how we can best support you and your body. As your ‘body mechanic’, we will make recommendations based on what we observe—but the direction of the chiropractic treatment is under your control.

Follow-Up Chiropractic Appointments

Following chiropractic visits will be half an hour sessions and they will be tailored to the plan established in the initial session. If further work is necessary to help you recover, we will refer you back to other specialists—either within our team or outside it. But for most mechanical issues, we will do everything over the course of these appointments.

When you come for your first chiropractic appointment, remember to wear exercise clothes and be prepared to exert yourself. Our treatment is generally a full-body workout!

What does a chiropractor do?

A chiropractor will perform spinal adjustments to fix ‘subluxations’ or partial misalignments of the vertebrae in your spine. Chiropractic care commonly takes the form of neck or back adjustments, but it can include other techniques based on your specific needs.
